General Information

Who can get a student card from Frank? Terms of use and data protection.

Who can sign up to Frank’s service?


Frank's service is available to all undergraduate and graduate students in Finland.
Students must also be enrolled for the current semester as present.

Students of Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS):
Students of all Finnish UAS can use the Frank service for free. 
See the list of Finnish UASs.

If you are studying at either the Police University College or Högskolan på Åland, register as a member of your student union to get Frank's service. Otherwise, you can register as a Frank user using 
Studyinfo verification.

University students:
Bachelor or Master students from all Finnish universities can use the Frank service for free. 
See the list of Finnish universities.

University postgraduate student: Become a member of your own student organization if you study at one of the following universities: Aalto University, University of Helsinki, University of Eastern Finland, University of Jyväskylä,  Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology, Svenska Handelshögskolan, University of Art and Design, University of Turku, Åbo Akademi.

Upper secondary school and vocational students:
To use Frank App and digital student card, you must be a full-time student at a Finnish high school or vocational school. Study right is verified through My Studyinfo-service, which requires Finnish bank credentials.

If you don’t have Finnish bank credentials, you get your student card by joining a student organization. Second degree students can order a plastic student card from their student organizations.

Frank always recommends that a student joins their respective student organization.

If you are a Finnish citizen studying abroad: At the moment we can only verify study rights from Finnish institutions. However, you can purchase the international ISIC-card that provides some student discounts in Finland as well. More about ISIC-card in Finland here (link: isic.fi/en/)

I study at an Open University / UAS, can I register for the Frank App?

Unfortunately, those who are studying in an open university / UAS or studying at a folk high school are not entitled to a student card. Open university / UAS / folk high school studies are part-time and general education. Studies in open university aren’t degree oriented; therefore our system does not recognize you as a student and unfortunately confirmation of student status is not possible.

We are also unable to certify students completing path studies. If you are a path student, we recommend checking whether you are entitled to a student card by becoming a member of your student organization.


I want to delete my Frank account

You can send a removal request from your Frank profile. We try to complete the deletion of data within about a month of filling out the form.

You can also fill out a removal request from 
this link. Remember to enter Frank's username on the form! If an account cannot be found in the system with the email you provided, we will not contact you separately.

MobilePay

What is it about?

Frank and MobilePay collaborate to help students to pay so that they are automatically identified as students when making their student priced purchase. At the moment, this solution is implemented on quicker lunch payments in some of the UNI and UAS student canteens in Finland. We will  inform everyone when the solution can be used elsewhere.

How students will benefit from it? 

When you have Frank App and MobilePay connected, you don’t have to show your student card anymore. You will get the student discount automatically when you pay your student-priced service or product that a service provider is giving with MobilePay.

How do I get this payment solution to use?

You can connect Frank App and MobilePay if you are a graduate student and have both of the app downloaded on your phone. You can connect the apps on Frank Apps last page by clicking “Connect Frank and MobilePay”. Make sure you are using the same phone number on both services.

Where I can use this payment solution?

See the current list of student restaurants where you can pay your student lunch with MobilePay on frank.fi/en/mobilepay.

Why am I unable to connect Frank App with MobilePay?

At the moment the current solution is used only when paying your student lunches in some of the UNI and UAS student canteens in Finland. We'll let you know when the payment solution is more widely available. We are working to make the solution available to all second and higher degree students as soon as possible. While waiting, make sure that you have Frank App and MobilePay downloaded in your phone!

ISIC - International Student Card

What is ISIC, and where can I order an international ISIC student card?

What is ISIC?

International Student Identity Card, ISIC, is the only internationally-recognized student ID. ISIC has over 10,000 student discounts in 130 countries. We want to offer student benefits and discounts to all Finnish students both in Finland and abroad. Therefore, students can add the worlds cheapest ISIC card to their plastic or digital student card.


How can I get an ISIC student card?

YYou can add ISIC to your plastic student card for 15€ / 5 years. ISIC can be added when ordering a student card. You can order from the last page of Frank App or in the browser: student.frank.fi/ordercard.

You can buy a digital ISIC card for 4€ / year. You can order from the last page of Frank App or in the browser: 
student.frank.fi/ordercard/digital-isic-card.

You can also buy a digital ISIC card from the link on the back of Frank's digital student card (click on the barcode icon in the bottom left of your picture). Your ISIC number will appear on the back of the digital student card after purchase. Please remember to activate your digital ISIC card in the ISIC App after purchase. Instructions for activating the digital ISIC card can be found below and on ISIC's website (link: 
isic.fi/en/isic-info/faq/#app)

A standard 12-month ISIC card (price €10) can be ordered by anyone who is over 12 years of age and a full-time student. Order a standard ISIC card from the ISIC website (link to the website: isic.fi/en/get-your-isic/checkout-basket/).


I already have an ISIC card. May I combine it with the digital student card or with a new plastic student card?

Unfortunately, Frank App is currently only supporting new digital ISIC cards purchased through Frank App. Also it's not possible to combine your ISIC number to a new plastic student card order. If you want to have ISIC on your plastic student card you would need to buy a new ISIC card during the ordering process.

If you like, you can use your current ISIC number digitally in ISIC App and order a new plastic card without ISIC. You can register to ISIC App with your ISIC number. You find your ISIC number on Frank App behind your digital student card by clicking the barcode or on your plastic student card. ISIC number starts and ends with a letter. You can get all the same discounts with it as with a plastic card. You can find more info at isic.fi/en/isic-info/isic-app/.


How do I use and activate my ISIC number?

The ISIC number in Frank App is not yet the official ISIC card. You can register to ISIC App with your ISIC number and use your number as a digital card. Your ISIC number is either on Frank App behind your digital student card (click the barcode) or on your plastic student card. ISIC number starts and ends with a letter and has 14 characters.

Signing up process step-by-step

  1. Once you have received your personal 14-digit ISIC number, you are able to sign up to ISIC App and activate your digital ISIC student ID. Please download the ISIC App for Android or iOS.
  2. Tap "Sign up" on the app menu
  3. Type in your name as you typed it on the order form and your personal ISIC number, and tap "Check"
  4. Type in an email address where you can verify your registration and invent a password for future ISIC App login.
  5. Read and accept the Terms and Conditions, and tap "Sign up"
  6. Click the link on the verification email sent to the address you have given above.

Frank App

Personal information, student card's picture and student discounts.

What kind of student discounts will I get access to with a digital student card?

With a digital student card, you get all the same student benefits as with a plastic student card, e.g. From VR and public transport. The information on the digital student card is updated automatically from the student register or the My Studyinfo service! No need for year stickers and it takes less than a minute to set up.

The digital student card is free of charge. You can find your digital student card in the free Frank App.

In the end, the service providers themselves decide on what grounds they grant the discount. If you come across a service provider that does not grant you a discount with a digital student card, please notify us at 
info@frank.fi.


Discount code is not working or I want to suggest a student discount

If the code doesn't work...

  1. Please check first that you have read the terms of the benefit. Some products/brands may not be included in the discount. You can find the conditions in the description.
  2. Check that the code is correct. You can check and, if necessary, copy the code again by returning to the Frank App or Frank's website.
  3. There are no extra spaces or characters at the end of the code.

Please also check that your browser does not have a vpn or adblocker turned on!

Cashier does not know about the digital student card, what should I do?

You can show the text on Frank's website where the digital student card is presented (link: frank.fi/en/studentcard). In case of problems, you can also turn to your student organization or report the beneficiary to us at info@frank.fi.


I can’t find Frank App on my phone’s app store

If you don't see Frank App in your own app store, it could be due to the following reasons:

  • Your operating system is outdated: Frank App can be downloaded for iPhone devices with an iOS10+ operating system and Android devices with an Android 5+ operating system. Device-specific differences may occur.
  • You are using a Windows Phone: The application is not available for those devices.
  • You are using a Lenovo device: Frank App does not support the Android version of the device.


Does the digital student card work offline?

Yes, you can use your digital student card offline for a week. Frank App versions from 3.1.0 and newer, in the event of a connection error, remembers your digital card information for a week, after which you can use it offline again by connecting the App to the network. Frank App discounts are not available without an internet connection.



Frank App didn't work just when I had to prove my student status. What now?

We are very sorry that our application has failed you in the situation it was developed to handle. For the most common user issues you can find help on this page.

Unfortunately, the services sometimes experience outages or errors. We do our best to ensure that no errors occur, but we are not responsible for momentary interruptions in the operation of the Frank App application, the digital student card, or Frank's service, or for the resulting harm. You can familiarize yourself with the terms of use of the service 
here (link: frank.fi/en/terms).

By using the Frank App application and your digital student card, you accept that the service carries a risk of possible interruptions, even though the Frank App has proven to be very reliable since its launch in 2016.


How can I update my permanent Finnish ID to the service?

If you want your ID number to be updated to the student register, you’ll have to contact your University’s student services or Student Union, which takes care of updating the student register. Please tell us when you have contacted your University’s student services or Student Union in this matter, so we’ll know to update your user account as well.



I have changed schools, how can I update my information?

Go to the profile page and click the "Add education" button. If the information of the new education has been updated (the semester has started, and the information can be found in our register), you can update the new information immediately and use your digital student card with the information about the new school.

If problems arise, it may be that your information about the new education has not yet been transferred to our register from your school or student organization. The transfer of data often takes a few days after the notification of attendance and the payment of the membership fee of the student organization. Please note that if the new study right starts in the coming semester, we will only receive the information in the register after the semester begins.

If you confirm your student status through the My Studyinfo service, please make sure that you have created the link according to the picture instructions (picture instructions: 
frank.fi/en/mystudyinfo/). Please note that the information can only be updated when your study right begins at the beginning of the semester.


My name has changed, how can I update my information to the digital student card?

Have you updated the name in your university's student services and your student organization? We receive the student's information from institutions or student organizations, i.e. when the information is updated, it is sent to our student register. After the change, data transfer takes a few days. The name is then automatically updated on your digital student card. If necessary, you can check whether the information has already been updated by clicking "Update information" in your profile.

If you have verified your student status with the Studyinfo link, check that your name has been updated in Studyinfo and update your information with the new Studyinfo link. The information for the student card can be obtained from the Studyinfo link. We only read the first and last names on the digital card.


I have two study rights. How can I update my information and order a student card with my chosen degree?

Go to the profile page under "Study information". You can choose which degree appears in your profile, and with which information you want to use your digital student card, and order a physical student card with the same information. Before ordering a physical card, please check that the information is for the degree you want, the order cannot be edited afterward.

If your second degree is at the University of Tampere, Vaasa, Oulu, or Lapland OR at a University of Applied Sciences, you can update the new study right by clicking the "Add education" button. In this case, the new information is updated with the link created in the My Studyinfo service. Instructions can be found in the verification of your chosen institution, and picture instructions for creating the link can be found here: frank.fi/en/mystudyinfo/
. 


Why do I need to add a profile picture when registering?

The image is added for creating and ordering a student card (digital and plastic). When the picture is added during the registration phase, you can use your digital student card at the same time. The same image is also printed on a possible plastic card, so adding an image when registering speeds up the ordering of a plastic card later. However, you don't have to add the picture right away, you can add it later if you want. If you don't want to use a digital student card or order a plastic student card, the picture is not mandatory. In this case, you can use Frank's benefits online.


I want to change the picture on my digital student card.

Student cards picture can be changed after one week. You can see the exact date on the profile page, on Profile picture. If your photo does not meet the requirements and it hinders the use of the digital student card, you can send us a message at info@frank.fi.


Criteria for student card picture

Do you have sunglasses, a hat, thick-rimmed glasses, a special background, or even a friend or a cat in the picture? Automatic facial recognition defames these. The picture is intended

  • neutral background
  • resembling a passport photo
  • colored
  • square (600x600 pixels)
  • face image is taken perpendicularly

A good quality selfie will do if it clearly shows your face. In particular, make sure that the resolution of your image is not too high. The size 600x600 is suitable, as mentioned above.
The profile picture is printed on your higher education plastic student card, so if you upload an inappropriate picture, you will have to replace your own card in connection with the re-order. Your card cannot be used as a student ID, so it is useless.

Who can order? How and when will I get the card?

Terms

Following terms apply to the purchase and order of a student card, unless stated otherwise by Finnish law.

Prices and payment

  • All customer prices include the VAT.  The payment must be made full before the student card will be produced and sent to the customer by mail.

Production and delivery

  • All student card will be produced and sent only after the payment has been made in full. The delivery is only possible within Finland and only using the standard mail deliver (2nd class).

Cancelling the order and refunds

  • It is not possible to cancel the order of a student card, unless the order is stopped before the payment has been made. The Finnish consumer protection law is applied to the cancellation of student card orders.


Do I need to have a physical student card in order to use the digital one?

No need. To get a digital student card, you must be present in the current semester or in the second degree as a full-time student. After registering as present, you can head to the application store (Google Play or App Store) in a couple of days and you're ready to activate the card!

Who is eligible to order a physical student card from Frank?

Frank offers a plastic student card to higher education students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) whose student organization is in cooperation with us. The cooperative organizations can be found here: frank.fi/en/studentunions/

If your student organization does not cooperate with us, you cannot order a plastic student card. You can still use the digital student card and the Frank App, as well as order a digital ISIC student card (more information: 
frank.fi/en/studentcard/)

Second degree students can order a plastic student card from the student organization.


How can I pay the student card order?

You can pay your student card with any debit or credit card. All the most common card types are accepted e.g. all Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards. It's not possible to pay the order with e-banking credentials or with cash. 


There’s an error while paying the order.

First, check that you have filled in all the fields and entered your payment card information correctly, and that there are no additional spaces left in the data fields either. If the information is correct, and the payment still does not go through, your payment was probably blocked by your own bank - you may have, for instance, online purchases blocked in your card settings. You should change the setting at least temporarily in your online bank or by contacting the bank.

Note! In card payments, the payment is confirmed with online banking credentials. If necessary, give permission for pop-up windows on your browser, so that your order can proceed.


How and when will I receive the student card?

The processing and delivery time for physical student card is 2-3 weeks. Please note that at the beginning of each semester (August & January), there can be delays with deliveries. In order for Posti to deliver your card, your address must be registered to Digital and Population Data Services Agency. See more here. Please make sure to write your address accordingly, information cannot be changed once order has been paid. The order cannot be cancelled after payment either.

The card is delivered as a normal letter. Therefore, the order can’t be tracked. If for some reason the card cannot be delivered, it will return to Frank. In this case, we’ll contact you to arrange the delivery. If you have questions regarding the order, contact us on: info@frank.fi. Remember to include your name, date of birth and name of your institute to the message.


My name or place of study has changed. Do I have to order a new card?

If you want to use a plastic student ID, you should order a new student card. The student may occasionally have to verify their identity with a passport, for example, and the information must then match. Especially with ISIC combination cards abroad, the old name on the card can cause problems. Not all student organizations issue new academic year stickers for cards with an old name or old place of study.

When changing your name, please notify your university of your new name first.

Please check that the new name/school has been updated in Frank's profile before ordering the card! If the service still shows the wrong name, click the "Update information" button at the beginning of the profile page, and the service will retrieve your information from the register. New study information can also be updated from the profile page.

Please note that you can only order a new plastic card if your new studies are at an institution whose organization is in cooperation with us. The cooperative organizations can be found here:

My name is cut on my student card or the information is unclear. Can I still use it normally?

The name is cut because the name information has been too long for that field. Luckily, it does not affect the use of the card in any way, and you can use the card normally! :)

If the card's information and picture are unclear/misplaced, send us a picture of your student card: 
info@frank.fi, so that we can make a complaint about the card.


I’ve lost my physical student card. What should I do?

If you had...

  1. A student card with payment feature offered by Danske Bank, deactivate your lost card online or call +9 200 2585 (24/7). The card cannot be reimbursed.
  2. A student card with Aktia Wallet / Elisa Wallet payment feature, be sure to close the card by calling +358 800 0 2477. Unfortunately, these student cards are not reimbursed, so if you want a new plastic student card, you can order it normally from our website.
  3. A student card without payment feature, you can normally order a new student card from our website. Unfortunately, these student cards are not reimbursed.

Registering to Frank

Registering to the service, account issues and updating information.

I tried to register, but the app says “This user has already been registered”

You have already registered for our service with another username, to which your personal data is attached. You can register for the service with your personal information only once, which is why you have received the message. This is often due to the incorrect spelling of the school email (service sees addresses as different emails) or your own personal email. You can register for Frank with any email. Instead of registering again to the service, try logging in with your other emails. You can reset the password from "Forgot password?" link.

If you don't remember the original username, send us a message at 
info@frank.fi. In order for us to find the original username, you must include your date of birth, full name and institution in the message. Also attach to the message the email you want to use for login in the future.


I tried to log in, but the app says “The information you sent was not correct”

You have entered your password or email address incorrectly when logging in. Please try logging in with the credentials you originally registered with our service. Your email address for signing up must be exactly the same as your registered one (punctuation marks and upper and lower case letters are taken into account).

If you have forgotten your password, you can restore it from the "
Forgot password?" link. If you don't remember your original email, you can contact info@frank.fi, we will check it for you. Remember to include your date of birth and full name in the message to find it.


App has logged me out and when I log in my study information has disappeared. What to do?

The app can log the user out, for instance, when updating a new version of the app. Otherwise, the login will remain in the app until you log out yourself.

If your previously normally displayed study information has disappeared after logging in again, you have probably logged into our service with the wrong email address. In other words, you have different emails registered in the service, and your status is verified with a different username. When you log in, the email must be exactly the same as the one you first registered with. You can try different emails to log in.

If you don't remember your password, you can reset it by clicking "Forgot password?" link. If you don't remember your original email, contact info@frank.fi and we will check it for you. Remember to include your date of birth, place of study and your full name in the message to find the original email.


I don’t have a Finnish ID-number, how can I register to Frank App?

You can still verify yourself as a student to our service! Just select “No Finnish personal ID number?” and our service offers you the option to verify yourself with your student number and your last name. Please note that your last name must be written exactly as it’s in our register. If you have any problems, contact us via info@frank.fi.


I have problems getting the verification text message.

There is probably a temporary problem with the verification of the phone number, which can be caused by, for example, the operator or because the verification is being attempted abroad. No problem - you can complete the registration even without verification, and the phone number is not mandatory information anyway. In this case, skip the verification at the last field or alternatively restart the application.

If you want, you can try to verify your number later in the application or in the browser at student.frank.fi. If the problem persists, contact info@frank.fi and we can add the number to your profile! Bear in mind that you can only verify phone numbers starting with the Finnish area code +358.


How can I reset my password?

You can reset your password by clicking "Forgot your password?" link on the login page or in the browser: student.frank.fi/forgot-password. If the code required for the return is not displayed, please also check your email's spam folder.

In case you got one of these messages

Verification failed/"We were unable to verify your student status based on the information you provided"

There’s an error on your My Studyinfo -link; for example the link doesn’t have correct information attached or there’s information missing on your My Studyinfo. Make sure you’ve created the link correctly (link to picture guide: frank.fi/en/mystudyinfo/) and have attached only your active degree. The link should tell the following: name, date of birth, name of the school and degree, validity of study right and your attendance for the semesters. If information is missing, contact your school.  You can also contact My Studyinfo on koski@opintopolku.fi

“This user has already been registered”

When you get this message, it means that you have logged in with a different email address than what you have registered to our system with in the first place. You can register to our system only once with your Finnish ID number/My Studyinfo -link/student number. Just try to log in with some other email address (for example your other school email address). If you don’t remember your original user account you can contact us at info@frank.fi. For us to be able to find your original user account you must attach your name, school and your birthdate to the email.

“The information you sent was not correct”

When you get this message, it means you have entered your password or email address incorrectly. Please try to log in with the information you have registered to our system in the first place. Your email address has to be entered exactly the same way (taking into account uppercase and lowercase letters and punctuations). If you don’t remember your password, you can change it after clicking "Log in" and then "Forgot password?" or behind this link: student.frank.fi/forgot-password. If you cannot remember the original username, you can email us on info@frank.fi and we’ll check it for you. Please include your full name, date of birth and place of study for us to find your user information easily!

Frank App jams to loading view (loading spinner). What now?

Try to 1) close the app and open it again, 2) make sure that you are using the latest version available of the Frank App (and your phone) and if not, update the app and then open it again, 3) make sure you have a working internet connection. If none of these help you can write to us via info@frank.fi

I cannot activate my digital student card, the app only says “Something went wrong”. What might this ‘something’ be?

Student unions in cooperation:

  •  Your student union membership is not valid: please contact your own student union to ensure that your membership is valid. If your membership is not valid, you can buy membership from your organization.

  • Membership has not been updated: If you have just paid for a membership, it will take a couple of days for it to take place. During that time the activation of the digital card will not work. Wait a few days and try again.

  • You have not enrolled for the current semester or your study right hasn't begun yet.

  • Your right to study has ended (e.g. you have graduated). Frank App verifies student status in real time from a system where information comes directly from universities or student districts. Because your study rights are out of date, your data will no longer be sent there, and your student verification will not work.

  • There is a typing error in the information you entered. If your membership and attendance should be valid, please contact your university's student services or your student union (UAS and 2nd degree) to find out any errors in the registry.

  • The end part of your Finnish Personal ID Number is not in the national student register.

    • High school students: You can add your Finnish personal identity number to the register at voltage.sebacon.net/lukiohetu. It may take a couple of days to update this information.

    • Students in Vocational School and Universities of Applied Sciences: Contact your student union and ask them to add the end part of the Finnish personal identity number to the register or check that it is correct. It may take a couple of days to update this information.

    • Students in Universities: Contact your university's student services and ask them to add the end part of the Finnish personal identity number to the register or check that it is correct. It may take a couple of days to update this information.

My Studyinfo -service:

  • You have not enrolled for the current semester or your study right hasn't begun yet.

  • Your right to study has ended (e.g. you have graduated). Frank App verifies student status in real time from Finnish National Agency for Education’s My Studyinfo -service. Because your study rights are out of date, your data will no longer be sent there, and your student verification will not work.

  • There is a typing error in the information you entered.

  • The link is not active anymore:  check that the link is still valid and update it if needed on your profile, here's how to do it: frank.fi/en/mystudyinfo

  • You have chosen wrong information to the link (see picture guide: frank.fi/en/mystudyinfo


Student discounts

What kind of student discounts will I get access to with a digital student card? 

You are eligible for all the same student discounts and benefits with the digital student card as with the plastic ­one. The difference is that your digital student card is automatically updated without you having to retrieve any yearly attendance tags. The activation process takes less than a minute. You can find the digital student card within the Frank App, which is free to download and use.

Please note, that companies offering the student discounts are ultimately the one deciding on what grounds they will grant the student discounts. If you come up with a service provider that does not grant you student discounts with the digital student card, please contact info@frank.fi.

Why do the discounts on Frank's web service keep on loading?

You probably have some adblock on. Turning if off should fix the problem.

A discount isn’t working, what do I do?

Changing your information to the service

How do I change my name to the service? 

Have you updated your new name to your school’s student services and/or to you student organization? We get student’s information from universities or student organizations so once your information is updated there, it’s transferred to our student register. This transfer may take a few days. After the information arrives it will update to your digital student card as well. You can check if it’s updated by clicking “Update information” on your profile page.

I have changed schools, how do I update my information?

You can update your information by clicking “Add education” on your profile. Then you should follow the instructions carefully.  After this your new school’s info should be on your digital student card. If you face any problems, it might be that your information from your school/student union hasn’t been sent to our register yet. It usually takes a few days for the information to be on our register after you have enrolled for the semester and paid the student union fee. 


If you verify your student status with a My Studyinfo -link, please make sure you have created the link correctly (link instructions: frank.fi/en/mystudyinfo/).

How to update my permanent Finnish-ID to the service? 

If you want your ID number to be updated to the student register, you'll have to contact your University's student services or Student Union, who takes care updating the student register. Please tell us when you have contacted your University's student services or Student Union in this matter, so we'll know to update your user account as well.

My studies begin in the Autumn semester, when can I activate my student card?

You can verify your student status when the fall semester starts on August 1st. The status can only be verified when the registration for the semester has been registered at your own institution, and for university students, the membership fee of the student organization has been registered.

If the status verification is not successful on the first day of the semester, please try again later. The students of the cooperation organizations are updated from the universities to our register as the information is updated to the university. The data transfer takes a few days. At the beginning of the semester, there may be longer delays in data transfer. We do not manage student register information, so please first check your own information from the student services of the university or student organization.

You can verify your student status when the spring semester starts on January 1st. The status can only be verified when the registration for the semester has been registered at your own institution, and for university students, the membership fee of the student organization has been registered.

I tried to verify my status, but the app says “Student was not found in our database. Are you sure you typed everything correctly?”

Your information cannot be found in our student register. We receive information in the register from institutions and, at the second degree, from student organizations, if these two conditions are met:

  1. The student is present in the current semester (fall: 1.8.-31.12., spring: 1.1.-31.7.) 
  2. The student is a member of their student organization in the current semester.

If you have just registered to be present or paid your organization's membership fee, there is a delay in updating the information. The information is usually updated a few days after your payment is registered OR at the second degree; your membership application and payment have been processed by the organization.

If you have registered for the semester and paid the membership fee many days (more than 7 days) ago, check primarily with your institution OR student organization that your information is correct. At the beginning of the semesters (1.8. and 1.1.) there are delays in data transfers due to the number of students. We recommend that you first try the verification again in the following days, as information is received in the register daily.

Please note that even if you have already registered to be present before the beginning of the semester, you can still activate your student status and use your student card only when the semester starts and your study right comes into effect. The student card cannot be activated or ordered in advance.


I tried to verify my status, but the app says “We could not fetch your information via the link you provided. Please check that your link is still valid.”

There is an error in the studyinfo link or the study right, which is why the status cannot be verified. This could mean, for example, that the link does not have the right information attached to it, or that your information does not contain attendance information.

First, check that you have created the link according to the picture instructions (link to the picture instructions: 
frank.fi/en/mystudyinfo/) and shared only your active degree. The link opens your study information, where you should read the following: name, date of birth, institution and degree, validity of study right and attendance information from the Additional information menu.

If there are gaps in the information, first contact your institution. If necessary, you can also contact Opintopolku: 
koski@opintopolku.fi.

You can also send us your My Studyinfo link and your Frank username (email) to the address: info@frank.fi, and we will check your information.


Why does the app show my study right is valid only to the end of August or January, when I have paid my membership for the entire academic year?

Your information has been sent to our register only for the current semester. At that moment, the digital card only shows the information of the active semester (autumn or spring), even if you have paid for the membership for the entire academic year. In this case, the fall semester and the new validity period will be updated in the application in early August, and the spring semester in early January, if your membership and attendance continue.


Why isn’t my student status updating when the semester has changed?

If you have verified your status with a social security number / student number...

  • Your information has not yet been received in our student register from your student organization or institution
  • The service has not yet had time to retrieve updated information from the register. Data is fetched once a day. You can try to update the validity by clicking "Update information" in the profile, and the service will retrieve your information from the student register.

If you have verified your information with the Studyinfo link...

  • Please check that your attendance information has been updated in Studyinfo and that the shared link is valid. You may have to update the link when the semester changes, if your attendance information is updated every semester.


I graduate in the middle of the academic year. For how long can I use my digital student card?

When your right to study can no longer be verified from the student register or Studyinfo the validity of the student status ceases. The digital student card still works for about a month from the day the status cannot be verified. The operation logic of the digital student card is based on real-time verification, so the validity changes due to graduation when your study right ends. We cannot extend the validity of the digital student card.


Why isn’t my student status active anymore or the validity date has changed?

When your right to study can no longer be verified from the student register or Study Path, the validity of the student status ceases. The digital student card still works for about a month from the day the status cannot be verified. Therefore, the date may change.

If you have verified your status with a social security number / student number...

Your information has not been sent to our student register from your institution or student organization. Check that you have:

  1. Paid the organization's membership fee for the current semester
  2. In higher education: provided a receipt for your payment to the institution, if necessary, and that the payment is registered for the correct semester
  3. Registered as present for the current semester.

If you have just registered for the semester and paid the membership fee, the information will be updated in our register within a few days. If it takes longer for the information to be updated, first of all check with your institution or student organization that your payment has been registered for the current semester and that your attendance has been registered.

If you have verified your information with the Studyinfo link...

Check that your Studyinfo link is valid. By default, the link is valid for 6 months, you can extend the validity in the My Studyinfo service. If the link is not valid, or there are other changes in the information, you can continue using the service by updating your account with a new Studyinfo link.

What happens after my study right ends?

When your validity has ended for good, we will transfer you to a Frank Alumn user. The student card closes, but you can continue using Frank's discounts (discount codes) for one more year (12 months)! The service automatically transfers you to an alumn user, and you don't have to do anything. The digital student card is closed to Alumn users.

Why do I need to add a profile picture when registering?

The picture is used to create the digital student card. If you add the picture while registering, the digital student card will immediately be at your disposal and it will make the ordering of a plastic student card faster, if you wish to order one.

You don't have to add a profile picture right away; you can also add it later. The profile picture must be added for ordering a student card. If you don't want to use a student card, then the image is not required.

I am not able to download a picture. Why is that?

This can be that the picture doesn’t meet the criteria or it has been less than 6 months since the last update. You can change the picture once every 6 months (once in semester). This is to prevent any misuse as the digital student car is also an official student ID. You can see the picture criteria below.

I would like to change the picture of my digital student card. How do I do this?

To prevent misuse, the image can only be changed once a semester (every 6 months). If your image does not meet the requirements and it makes the use of a digital student card difficult, you can request the right to change your image by sending us an email info@frank.fi

What are the criteria for a student card picture?

Do you have sunglasses, a hat, eyeglasses with thick frames, a weird background or for instance; a cat or a friend in the picture with you? The automatic face recognition will give you an error for these. The image must be 

  • A colored picture

  • Neutral background

  • Square sized image (min. 300x300 pixels) of your face 

  • Resembling to a passport picture.

A good quality selfie is also fine if it clearly shows your full face. Also, make sure that the resolution of your profile picture is not too large. Size 300x300 is good, as mentioned above.

The profile picture is printed on your plastic student card, so if you download an inappropriate image, you will be responsible for all costs regarding to a new card order. Note that your student card will not be valid if it contains an inappropriate image!

Student card with payment feature (discontinued 05/2021)

The payment feature on my student card is ending in 2021, do I get a new card from the bank?

You won’t be issued a new card automatically after the payment feature ends after June 2021. For example, if the payment feature is ending in July 2021, the bank won’t send you the renewal card. If your card’s payent feature is ending in June 2021 and you haven’t received a new card, contact Danske Bank’s customer support.

Note! You can still use your card and ISIC-card as a student identification with a valid year tag.

My student card has an ISIC-feature, is it still valid for 5 years?

Yes, if your card has a valid year tag it’s still valid. Remember that you can activate your ISIC-card digitally on ISIC app and get the benefits to your phone as well!

What happens to my Danske Bank account now that the student card with payment feature is discontinued?

Nothing, the account has the same terms as when you purchased the card; the service is free until you graduate. If your payment feature is ending and you want to know more about your account, contact Danske Bank’s customer service.

My student card’s payment feature is valid until 2024, what happens then?

The payment feature and terms are still valid until you graduate or the payment feature ends. Your student status is valid with a year tag. You won’t be issued a new card after the payment feature ends.

My card got missing or stolen, what should I do?

First: close your account by calling Danske Bank’s closing number (p. 0200 2585, 24/7)or on your mobile bank. Unfortunately the bank won’t provide you a new card to replace the missing one. Contact Danske Bank to resolve your account. If you want a plastic student card, you can purchase one through Frank’s website: frank.fi/en/studentcard/. We won’t compensate for the charges of missing cards.
