What is Frank?

Frank is a student-owned service where you will find student discounts in Finland. We provide student identification and student benefits under the same roof. We want to make sure that students won't miss out on any opportunities. For companies, we offer a platform to reach students and provide them with targeted services.

Frank has provided official student IDs and student discounts in Finland since 2013. In autumn 2016 we launched the digital student ID Frank App which has already over 42,000 users and was awarded in Slush 2016 as the best infotainment of utility service in Finland. Frank was also rewarded as a best team in Blue Arrow Awards.

In August 2016, Frank disrupted the student card industry by launching Frank App, the first digital student card in Finland, for both lower and higher degree students. Frank App is trusted by over 100,000 students and it was awarded at Slush as The Best Mobile Solution in Finland 2016, in the category of Utility services. Frank was also awarded as The Best Performing Team at Blue Arrow Awards 2017.

Frank is owned by KILROY, a company specialized in offering products and services tailor made for youth and students, and Finnish Student Unions SAKKI, SAMOK, SLL and SYL.

Frank publishes a new version of its service, combining the old native app and the web service into one student service & launches it's new student ID packages for UNI & UAS students.

What does Frank offer for students?

Frank offers you the official student identifications that you can use both in Finland and abroad.

A list of student ID’s we currently offer:

a free digital student card for all students
an international ISIC student ID digitally for all students
a plastic student card for university or UAS students whose student unions have a collaboration with Frank (see the list here)
an international ISIC student ID attached to your plastic card for university or UAS students whose student unions have a collaboration with Frank.

Frank also offers the best student discounts and benefits all over Finland, and with the international ISIC student ID, over 150,000 discounts in over 130 countries. As a student, you will find two kinds of benefits from Frank's service: traditional in-store benefits and discount codes for online shopping. Some of the benefits are ongoing, some are limited time offers, and new discounts are coming in constantly.

These student unions have a collaboration with Frank. If your student union is not on the list, you can express your wish for a Frank collaboration directly to your student union to get a plastic card through Frank.

September 2019

Frank opens its service for all students in Finland to use as the first operator in Finland.

Frank is owned by a Swedish marketing technology company Mecenat AB. Mecenat provides students' and student organization's similar services in Sweden like Frank does in Finland.

February 2022

Mecenat Holding AB acquires the entire share capital of Oy Frank Students Ab. Frank continues to grow in Finland in cooperation with Mecenat which is a a company offering similar student services in Sweden.

November 2021

Frank now offers benefits also to those who have recently finished their studies. Alumni users can now continue using Frank App for the next 12 months after the end of the study right.

June 2021

Frank launches a one month trial period for second degree students. High school and vocational school students can now try Frank for free for 30 days before joining as a member in their student organization.
